Dolores Ann West
May 19, 2012
Dolores Ann West went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 19, 2012, at the age of 77. She was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on April 7, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 23, at the Southside Church of the Nazarene, 4110 South Union Street, with burial following at Altoona Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
Dolores was united in marriage to Ralph Fees in 1952, then united in marriage to Vern West in 1979. Her life was enriched and defined by both unions. Dolores was retired from CDS in the tape library, James Morris Elementary as “lunch lady,” and most recently at Southside Senior Citizens Center as “popcorn lady.” She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at her lake home. She was a member of Southside Church of the Nazarene. She was a foster parent to many babies and toddlers all having a place in her heart. A very special one is Jeffrey Fenton of Long Beach, CA.
Dolores touched many lives and gave meaning to each in her own special way. Her dream and purpose was to have everyone live their lives in God’s way and to meet together in Heaven someday.
Dolores is survived by her sons, Ron (Linda) Fees, Ken Fees; daughter, Terri (Neal) Charter; step-son, Mike West; brothers, Curtis (Betty) Bryant, David (Karen) Bryant, sister-in-law, Marilyn Bryant, and half-brother, Neal Bryant; grandchildren, Carrie (Andy) Kraling, Kelli (Luke) Liepke, Ryan (Cassie Trenary) Charter, Cory (Amanda Cook) Fees, Kassi (Matt) Wesing, Zedd (BJ) Epstein, Brandon (Amanda) Charter, April Fees, Chris West, Ashley West; great-grandchildren, Vivian Kraling, Chloe Wessing, Miles Liepke, Madelyn Charter, Carter Fees, Baby Liepke, Baby West, and Baby Wessing arriving soon. My neighbor, my friend and most of all my second mom. There are not many days of my life that I do not remember hearing her infectious laugh or seeing her ear to ear smile. When I just needed to have someone to listen to me or to be kind enough to just give me a hug she was always there. Her family became an extension of my own a true neighbor and most of all one of the most gracious people I have ever been fortunate to have in my life.
I will miss her deeply but I know that one day I will meet her yet again and she will have her arms open and her heart full of the love she always had.
I love you mom my heart shares the emptiness we all have right now.
Speed to the heavens and hold a place for me.

I have fond memories of Dee and some of the best ones come to mind when she'd babysit Chris and I as kids. We had tv dinners with the tin foil tops while watching cartoons. My brother was dirty from playing outside and she scrubbed and scrubbed this dirty spot and it was his birthmark! I still bust out laughing even today when I think about that. I know that loosing one you love in this life is so hard and at times can feel unbearable. Know that you are not alone and God is with you and he is with you always. This life we live was never meant to be permanent but mearly a tent to our eternal mansion. When we remember that it is only a small piece to prepare us for what is to come in our new life ahead through Christ Jesus! We can rest assured knowing that Dee is rejoicing in his Glory! You cannot see her in this world at the moment but she is very much alive and we will all be reunited again one day for all of eternity! I pray that you are able to find joy and peace in your hearts today in celebrating her life.

We are so sorry that you have lost your Mom and our Aunt, but we are sure that she and Grandma Jewell are still busy catching up with everything.
We will always remember the good times, especially the visits to us in Kentucky that helped us get thru the "homesick" phase.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this time.
