Joan E. Andrew

Joan Elizabeth Durham Andrew , 75, died Friday, May 18, 2012, at Taylor House Hospice. Joan was born September 22, 1936, in Red Oak, Iowa, to Helen and O. C. Durham.

Joan graduated from Coburg High School in 1955, and married Robert Andrew in 1956. They had three wonderful children together: Rodney, Debbie, and Doreen. Joan worked at Iowa Health Systerms for 30 years, and retired in 2002. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved to laugh.

Joan is survived by her children, Rodney Andrew and Doreen Andrew, both of Des Moines; grandsons, Aaron Andrew of Newton and Adam Nimmo of Knoxvill; great-grandson, Brandon Nimmo of Newton; brother, Ivan (Jan) Durham of Hershey, NE; brothers-in-law, Willard (Margaret) Andrew and Dave McAlpine; sister-in-law, Dorothy McAlpin; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Glady; daughter, Deborah Jo Jarman; the children’s father, Robert; and sisters, Ruby Bass, Imogene Bauer, and Evelena Silket.

A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Guss, Iowa.
