Service Details

Ruth “Ole” Prieast, 95, died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Trinity Center at Luther Park. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Grand View Lutheran Church, 13th and Hull, with burial at Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Ruth was born October 2, 1911 to Theodore and Alma Olson. After graduating from East High School, she worked ten years for Bankers Life Company before marrying Wayne Prieast in 1939. Ruth then became a homemaker.
Ruth was a member of Grand View Lutheran Church for 87 years and was involved with church activities through the age of 93. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Norden Singers Auxiliary, and Daughters of the Nile. Ruth spent many years volunteering at Lutheran Hospital and Luther Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and one sister.
Ruth is survived by her daughters, Shirley (John) Neylon of Clive and Bonnie (Tom) Miller of Park Rapids, MN; grandchildren, Tim Neylon of Des Moines, Jennifer (Jeff) Kalmes of Rochester, MN, Erik (Deb) Miller of West Chicago, IL, and Sarah Miller of Pensacola, FL; and 4 great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jacob, Jacqueline, and Riley.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grand View Lutheran Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.

Wayne C. Prieast, 78, of 1307 Hull Ave. died of cancer Sunday, August 28, 1994 at his home. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grand View Lutheran Church, of which he was a member. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Prieast lived in Des Moines most of his life and was the retired owner of Des Moines Barrel and Drum Co. He was a member of Highland Park Kiwanis, Masonic Lodge and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; two daughter, Shirley Neylon of Des Moines and Bonnie Miller of Muscatine; a sister, Arlene Bell of Ankeny; four grandchildren; and a great grandchild.
Friends were present from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to his church.
