Mona Justice

Mona Justice, 88, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born October 25, 1923, to Norman and Lillian Strayer in Des Moines.
Mona graduated from East High School and worked at Des Moines Coop where she met the love of her life, Robert. They married in 1945 and had four children. While she raised her children, she stayed active in the Berwick Christian Women’s Club and Polk County Women’s Federation. Mona was a long-time member of Berwick Congregational Church, and most recently had been attending Altoona United Methodist Church.
Mona had a zest for life and friends. She enjoyed traveling with Robert and her family. She also enjoyed embroidery and playing cards.
Mona is survived by her children, Steve (Katherine) Justice of League City, TX, Mary Beth Overton of Ankeny, Scott Justice of Tulsa, OK, and Melissa (Dan) Rud of Garner, IA; grandchildren, Amy (John) Crane of Ankeny, Christopher Justice of Oklahoma City, OK, and Jacob Rud of Garner, IA; great-grandchildren, Audrina, Jayden and Olivia Crane, all of Ankeny; brother, John Strayer; and a host of other family and beloved Iowa and Texas friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson, Kory Justice, two brothers, and two sisters.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Berwick Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Altoona United Methodist Church Building Fund, or a charity of the donor’s choice, in loving memory of Mona.

Mary Beth and family, we were sadden to hear of your mothers passing, she was a wonderful lady, we knew her from in Texas for the last 20 years or so. The park will not be the same with out her. Our prayers are with you all.
