Deborah K. Gourd, 57, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Deborah was born on April 16, 1955 in Des Moines to Elaine and Paul Barnes.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2012 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street with burial following at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
She enjoyed being outdoors, riding motorcycles but most of all loved being around her family and friends.
Deborah is survived by her sons, Matthew (Jeff) Gourd, Sean (Shannon) Gourd, Andrew (Tiffany) Gourd; mother, Elaine; brother Steven Barnes; sister, Linda (Curtis) Salyer; grandchildren, Vincent, Owen, Trevor and Summer; and many other loving family and friends.

As usual I was thinking of you today as well as the Boys. Facebook seems to be the communication of choice for them to talk to me. I miss talking to U Deb. I will going through some jewelry I don't wear anymore, & knick knacks & brass butterflies all half packed and then I remember, you're Not there! First comes the Anger coming up that You didn't let me go first! Second a BIG sense of Loss. A hole in my Heart kind. You were just getting it all together! I wanted to go FIRST... I have nothing more to Live for if I can't get Home to Hawaii. Do lots of Favors for Aunt Doris...She has been soooo good to you and the Boys.

Aunt Debbie no words can describe how much your loved we will miss you. I guess you wont be coming to Montana next month but you can still look over your babies from heaven I love you RIP FLY FREE

To Sean, Matt, and Andrew: While I didn't know your mother well, I knew you, and I know the loss of a parent all too well. No words can express the sorrow that I feel for you and yours at this time. While we have all lost touch with each other, please know that you are all in my prayers, especially you Sean. Stay strong as I know you are; you have my heartfelt condolences.
