Mary Laureta Senn

Mary Laureta Senn, 83, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Prime Towers where she had been a resident for the past 1 ½ years.

Mary was born September 7, 1928, in Des Moines to Ralph and Antoinette (Ross) DeMay. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1946 and married Donald Senn in 1951. They lived on the Eastside of Des Moines for many years. Mary enjoyed working at the Iowa State Fair, and operated a food stand for one year and a novelty stand for 38 years. She also worked at HyVee doing food demonstrations and had a Flea Market stand. Mary enjoyed people and being in sales. She was always active and loved spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her sons, Michael Senn and Steve (Shari) Senn; grandchildren, Eric, Christopher and Amanda Senn; great-grandson, Chase Senn; sisters, Frances Toriello and Nancy Aldera; and a host of extended family members and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
