Mildred Stuart, 98, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Madrid Home for the Aging in Madrid, Iowa. She was born March 1, 1914, in Humansville, Missouri.

Mildred was united in marriage to Elvin Stuart on September 16, 1936, in Des Moines. They began farming together in Rising Sun and later moved to the Elkhart area where they continued farming and dairying. Mildred and Elvin were active members of Elkhart Christian Church and in the local 4-H Clubs. Elvin and Mildred retired from farming in 1967 and moved to Mitchellville, where they were very involved in the Mitchellville Christian Church and the Lions Club.

Mildred enjoyed china painting, tending her flowers, and visiting her family, neighbors and friends.

Mildred is survived by her daughters, Hazel (Fred) Fricke and Barb (Don) Fatka; daughter-in-law, Deanna (Stuart) Darrah; grandchildren, Michael, Deborah (Larry) Gilmore, Tamara (Brian) Bertini, Bryan (Laura) Fatka, Eric (Jacqui) Fatka, Elaine (Jeff) Rasmussen, Kathy (Scott) Hamilton, and Kevin (Shannon) Stuart; as well as 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elvin Stuart; sons, Raymond Stuart and Everett Stuart; and her grandson, Charles Lee Fricke.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Mitchellville Christian Church, 210 3rd Street NW, Mitchellville, with burial to follow at Rising Sun Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 9, at the church.

Memorial contributions may be given to Mitchellville Christian Church or the Madrid Home for the Aging in loving memory of Mildred.
