Susan K. Thompson

Susan K. Thompson, 63, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Iowa Health Taylor House, after a courageous battle with diabetes.

Susan was born March 4, 1949, in Des Moines to Cecelia and Thaddeus Critchfield. Susan lived in the Des Moines area for most of her life. She worked at both Walgreens and the Des Moines Airport for a number of years.

She loved to collect stuffed animals. One of her favorite things was to go out with her husband and her mother to dinner. Sue also loved dashhounds and her cat Sadie. She was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

Susan is survived by her husband, David; her sister, Cleo Dawson; nieces, Leann Dawson, Kelly Nolan and Lori Dawson-Weeks; her nephew, Patrick Kearney; and a dear friend Dean Dawson. Susan will be missed by all who loved her. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Kearney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Susan.
