Toyo Blake, 77, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012, with her family by her side.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012, at Pine Hill Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa.
Toyo Nakageneku was born November 25, 1934, in Nago, Okinawa, Japan, to Anjin and Uto (Higa) Nakageneku. Toyo married Richard Blake on February 14, 1961, and the couple made their home in various locations because Richard was enlisted in the United States Navy. Toyo enjoyed planting flowers and gardening, quilting, and early morning walks with her rat terrier, Pete. Mostly she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Tomoko (Greg) Weaver, and Hiromi Kuyuna and her family; grandchildren, Joy (Jim) Anderson, Corey (Bridget) Weaver, Tamara (Doug) Grice, and Elizabeth (Anel) Crncevic; and great-grandchildren, Blake Anderson, Jonathan Weaver, Sofia Mendoza, Amelia Grice, Lilly Weaver, Piper Anderson, Oliver Grice, Ajla Crncevic, and Benjamin Crncevic.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Blake, parents, and a brother.

So sorry to hear about your mother passing. My mother Atsuko also passed away on April 11th, 2012. I left a message on the cell phone but did not get a response. My heart goes out to you and your family.
