Glenn R. Ginder
May 01, 2012
Glenn R. Ginder, 58, went home to be with his Lord on May 1, 2012. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, May 7, at 11:00 am, at First Federated Church, 4801 Franklin Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa. The family will greet friends Sunday, May 6, 4-6 pm, at Hamilton’s, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Burial will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery on Monday morning.
Glenn was born on September 26, 1953, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, to George (Bob) and Shirley Ginder. He became a disciple of Christ while serving in the Navy (1972-1976). Glenn’s passion in life was to know Jesus more and to have others know Him also. He loved to laugh and enjoy life. Glenn and his family enjoyed being a part of another culture for 20 years in Malaysia.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 25 years, Carol (Reeve); his children, Samuel, Timothy and Sarah Ginder; brother, Nathan (Kim) Brightbill; parents-in-law, Herman and Naida Reeve; sister-in-law, Ann Reeve; and many relatives and friends in PA, as well as around the world. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Timothy Ginder, and sister, Alicia Brightbill.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family or First Federated Church Missions.

Dear Carol and family, There are few people in this world whose zeal for Jesus was more evident than Glenn Ginder. His passion for sharing the truth of the gospel led many to faith in Christ. While he is absent in the flesh, his witness lives on...he will, indeed be missed! Our prayer for you is that you will experience God's love in a new and intimate way finding His strength to carry you each day.... 2 Thessalonians 3:16: Now may the Lord of peace Himself continually grant you peace in every circumstance. The Lord be with you all!

From Palmyra, PA--Condolences to Carol and family--you are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm a cousin from his Grandmother Ginder's side of the family and my memories of Glenn are from the many family gatherings in his early years. I most recently saw him when he attended his dad's funeral.

Glenn was a great brother, always positive and encouraging and full of hope. His spirit was contagious, and the "virus" he spread was beautiful and clearly the result of an intimate walk with his Creator. I'll miss you, Glenn!

Wow, I just got the news and am both stunned and saddened. My wife and I just met Glenn and Carol this year as we participated for the first time in the Perspectives class that they so activily promoted and served. We will be praying for Carol and their family. Though I hardly knew Glenn well enough to speak with any authority about the man and his life, I will say that one attribute that was ever present was his passion to serve the one that called him to serve. My prayer is that the passion Glenn exemplified grows in all our hearts as the flame to selflessly serve God continues be fanned in each of our lives.

We were shocked and saddened to learn of Glenn's death. We grieve with you, Carol, and the kids, for the loss of your lover, your best friend, your dad. Glenn had one of the most faith-filled hearts I have ever met---believing, trusting, and living in the reality that Jesus is alive and knowing/walking with Him makes all the difference in the world, this one and the one to come. We rejoice with him and grieve with you.

Glenn and Carol have been friends since the early 1980's. My heart is heavy with grief for Carol. Glenn has been a valiant warrior in the fight for people who need the Lord. He has been an outstanding Missionary, husband and father. We will miss him.
