Fred Cheney, Jr.

Fred Cheney, Jr., 90, passed away May 1, 2012.  Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines.  Private burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines.
Fred was born on October 3, 1921 to Cleo (Chrinster) and Fred Cheney, Sr. in Dixon, Illinois.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army and later worked in the manufacturing industry as a sheet metal worker.  He enjoyed being with family and was active at his church, Highland Park Open Bible.
He will be greatly missed by his sons, Ron (Rikki) Cheney, and Gary (Cindy) Cheney; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and Becky (Ron) Deardorff.  Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; and his sister, Betty.

We just want all of you to know how much our family loved Fred. He was such a wonderfully sweet man and was so kind and helpful to Iris. We all considered Fred a part of our family and will miss him dearly.

i want to express my deepest condolences to the cheney family-i worked with your wonderful mom-helen-at the credit bureau forty yrs ago-and i seen how her eyes would sparkle when she would tell me about fred and her boys and their families- i know fred was a very loving husband and father--i was only nineteen at the time but i have never forgotten your mom and what a joy she was to work with---and i know fred was a total sweetheart as well---may they both rest in peace-----jolinda-belluchi-hughes
