Service Details

Gordon Miller, 81, passed away at home, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, April 28, 2012. Services will be held on Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m., at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1025 28th Street in West Des Moines, IA.

Gordon was born in Oak Park, IL, on August 11, 1930, to Virginia (Blevins) and Gordon Miller, Sr. Gordon grew up in Maywood, IL, and graduated from Proviso (East) High School where he had a swing band. He graduated from the University of Dubuque where he met Beth in the college choir. They joyfully sang their way together through life in both church and secular choirs. They would have been married 60 years this June. In addition to his passion for music, Gordon was devoted to his faith and family. He served as the Director of Christian Education at his church in Illinois, and volunteered for the Principal Golf Classic for 11 years. He also enjoyed playing golf, gardening and spending winters in Weslaco, TX.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family; wife, Beth (Jones) Miller; daughters, Racquel (Ron) Graham, Kristie Miller, Lori (Russ) Brown, Kerri Miller, and Julie Saladino; granddaughters, Emily Brown, Morgan and Jordan Saladino; sister, Deronda (Don) Clock; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Iowa Health Hospice or Covenant Presbyterian Church.
