Barbara A. Hansen

Barbara Hansen, 60, passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 27, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. She was born December 14, 1951, Indianapolis, to Dorothy and William Brickert. As a small child she then moved to Iowa where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was a caregiver to all who met her, she never knew a stranger. Barb had a smile that would light up any room. She also had a great passion for animals. But above all she loved her family.

Barb is survived by her husband of 30 years, Don; daughters, Jennifer (Damian) Wojtowicz and Danielle (Scott) Hunt; granddaughter, Mya; sisters, Deb (Steve) Johnson and Donna Brickert; and father, Doug Brickert. She was preceded in death by her mother.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Ss. John and Paul Catholic Church, 1401 1st Avenue S, Altoona. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, April 30, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Barbara.
