John Kline, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born December 24, 1941, in Des Moines, to Everett and Gladys Kline.
John grew up on the south side of Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961. He was an avid NASCAR and local racing fan. John loved traveling to Cozumel, Mexico, for the last 25 years, and was very active in the Republican Party at the city, state and national levels. He had a passion for music, dancing, his friends and family, as well as being a health enthusiast.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Mike) Christenson; granddaughter, Sierra Larson; siblings, Gary (Suzanne) Kline, Elaine Miller, Bob (Velta) Bucklin, Nancy (Vern) Luncsford; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, John Kline, Jr., his parents, and his brother, Leonard Bucklin.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

I still have pictures of him in Cozumel from 30 yrs ago or before!!!!! I'm in florida now and my DAD notifird me. I layed rug w/ rich . He was a funny guy. 772-360-6604

John and I shared a house on Madison Street 24 years ago, and we have remained close friends ever since. We did social things like the state fair and auto races at Newton. We talked frequently on the phone, met for breakfast at Perkins on most Saturdays, and we engaged in long discussions about current events. John was my trusted friend. He was like a brother. He left this world suddenly, no opportunity to say good-bye and God Bless. I think of him constantly.

My deepest condolences to the Kline family. I have known John for many years through the Polk County Republican Party. I will always remember the twinkling of his eyes, his "can-do" spirit and most of all, his willingness to pitch in and do whatever is needed. Our loss makes us realize even more that we must live each day as if it is our last.

So shocked to see that your dad had died. It is so hard to lose a parent.
Mom and Dad have been gone almost 28 years and there's not a day that I don't think about them.
Always cherish the memories because that is something that you will always have.

I am very very sad that Grandpa John is gone. I have known John for 12 years. He and my mother are really close friends. He treated me like a daughter always looking out for me. My daughters called him Grandpa John. He will never be forgotten and I will always be grateful for everything he did and the person he was. I will miss you John!

My heart is heavy to hear of John's passing. I am his neighbor and he was always there for me and my children, always watched the neighborhood. I will never forget coming home from a trip to see a taped piece of paper to his kitchen window stating "Donna, you have a flat tire". He will be deeply missed.
