Pauline Dessie Miller Peterson

Pauline Dessie Miller Peterson, 88, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Services will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines at 12:00 p.m. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.

Pauline was born April 26, 1923, to Dessie and Clement Miller in Valley Junction, IA. She graduated from Valley High School. On April 9, 1944, she married Thomas N. Peterson and they had 50 years together before his death. Pauline was very active and belonged to the West Des Moines Women’s Club, Quester’s Antique Club and the Button Club. A talented coloratura soprano, Pauline belonged to music clubs, Madrigal, and GCD Harmony Club and sang at many local churches, including Community of Christ, theatres, conventions and for weddings. She worked for Brandywine Designs on Ingersoll for 20 years before retiring. After retirement she continued to enjoy singing, collecting, shopping, antique and flea markets and spending time with family. Her attention to detail was much admired by her family.

She will be greatly missed by her nieces, Marlene (Chuck) Bright, Shelley (Ron) Kilker, Kathleen Miller Stone, Julie Miller and Rosemary Elverum; nephew, Steve (Dawn) Miller; and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Jimmy and Paul Miller; and longtime companion, John Paulsen.
