Isabella “Bea” McGillivray, 87, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Bright Kavanagh House.

Bea was born January 16, 1925, in Avalon, Pennsylvania, to Donald and Isabel Fowler. Her mother died during childbirth, and she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Margaret and Ross Parkhurst. She graduated from East High School in 1943 and retired from Northwestern Bell as an accounting clerk after 30 years of faithful service. Bea and her husband Don enjoyed traveling the world after their retirement, and for the past 24 years have wintered in Texas.

Bea is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Don; foster daughter, Diane (John) Balsley; granddaughter, Kate Balsley; grandson, John Balsley, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Ramona Walden, Jean (Frank) West and Marilyn McGillivray; brothers-in-law, Jerry Pille and Keith Gaar; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and special friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Bea.
