Jeffrey Alan “JJ” Janic, Jr. was carried home by the angels on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 after complications from surgery. JJ was born on September 5, 1991 in Des Moines to Tanya and Jeffrey Janic.
JJ attended Smouse School and Ruby Van Meter High School in Des Moines. He participated proudly in the Special Olympics. JJ touched the lives of so many people; he truly was an angel here on earth. JJ’s smile and personality could brighten and warm any room. He was our “Superman”.
JJ leaves behind his mom and dad; his sister and best friend, Danika; grandparents, Mike and Nancy Grubb and Steve and Myrna Janic; many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandma Brugioni, great-grandpa Grubb and his aunt Michelle Grubb.
JJ’s family would like to sincerely “Thank” the teachers and staff at Smouse, Ruby Van Meter, Childserve and the homecare nurses for the love and devotion they gave our JJ.
Funeral Services will be held at noon on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, WDM. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family will greet friends on Friday, April 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to JJ’s family in loving memory of JJ.

Tonya and Jeff, I was one of JJ 's first therapist at Blank when he was a baby. There are some kids that I never forget, and JJ was one of those kids. He always tried so hard When we made him try to do something. I worked at Smouse when he was there and he always seemed to have smile every time I saw him. JJ was a sweet young boy and it sounds like he continued to be a sweet young man.
I believe that JJ will always be with you and I hope that brings some peace to you in the coming days.

I was a home health nurse for a classmate of jj's in99, jj touched my heart then & I've thought of him often over the years, I still have a picture of him smiling as he always did, my heart & prayers go out to you all.God bless you!

RIP JJ you will be deeply missed especially by me, other teachers, your favorite girls, and Lauren.... The loss of such a special guy as JJ is a heavy load on many hearts. Remember God promised to wipe our every tear and do away with such pain and suffering (Revelation 21:4). May that hope sustain you until you see him again (John 5:28, 29). My sincere condolences.

Please accept my sincere condolences in the loss of JJ. It's hard to accept the loss of anyone, let alone a child. Please draw comfort in your faith and the belief that he is finally free to run and enjoy the things he missed here with us.

I am truly honored to have been JJ's Uncle. I am so sorry for your loss. I have no doubt that JJ is running around in heaven right now playing football, baseball and every other sport that he could not play before. He was a true inspiration to anybody that met him. The fight he showed made him my hero. He will be missed.
