Marvin E. Buck, Sr.
April 10, 2012
We celebrate 82 years of life as husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Marv joined our Heavenly Father on April 10, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Harriett; sons Marvin, Jr., and wife Linda, and John and wife Claudia; daughters Debra Dyar and husband Jim, and Diana Buck; grandchildren Christopher Dyar and wife Robin, Justin Dyar, Morgen Buck, and Jennifer Austin and husband Noah; great-grandchildren Will Dyar, Ayden Dyar, Prentice Dyar, Kate Dyar ,and Westley Austin; and niece Sue Timeon.
Marv was born August 16, 1929, in Des Moines, IA, to Walter and Olive Buck. He was the youngest sibling, and last of the four to pass. Marv met and married the love of his life, Harriett Heuring, in 1950. Marv and Harriett moved from Des Moines to Ankeny in 1965, where they skillfully and lovingly raised their four children.
Marv loved to square dance. His life was filled with love for a family that idolized him. His endearing and unique sense of humor explains the many special friendships he enjoyed. His dry wit and black and white approach to life were magnetic. He could always be counted on to add clarity to any situation. Two of Marv’s favorite clichés were: “drop back ten yards and punt,” and “if the shoe fits, wear it” (a simple man).
Marv will be greatly missed, but lovingly remembered by many. Thanks to everyone who supported Marv and his family through a long, painful and bonding journey.
The body has been cremated and no public service will be held.

Marvin was a great person. I met him in november 1948 at East high school. He,Bill Hurley, and myself be came close friends as we were all new to East at that time, along with Bill Hart, who showed us around East. My sincer sympathy to Harriett and their children. Respectfully Don
