Service Details
Janet Hinrichs, 77, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at The Shores in Pleasant Hill. Services will be Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 10 am, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 600 1st Avenue North in Altoona 50009. Visitation will be held Friday from 4-8 pm, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona 50009.
Born November 26, 1934, in Norway, Iowa, Janet was the daughter of Noble and Alice Brockschink. She graduated from Norway High School in 1953. On July 15, 1956, she married Reverend Bertrand Hinrichs. Her hobbies included stained glass, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Janet is survived by two sons, Randall and Steven (Kelly) Hinrichs; daughter, Paula (John) Hansen; four grandchildren, Mackenzie and Hilary Hinrichs and Molly and Bryan Hansen; two sisters, Nola (Henry) Moser and Nancy (Gene) Vincent; and brother-in-law, Robert Miller. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Joanne Miller.

Paula, Randy and Steve,
I am deeply saddened by the loss of your Mom. Aunt Janet was a wonderful person and I will always have very fond memories of her. In the past few years, as we prepared to adopt Abby, she would often send us notes of encouragement along with any newspaper clippings or articles pertaining to adoption that she had come across. You have my condolences.. Have many good memories of Janet.. She loved to stay at our place and Alice(her Mom) always had to come down and get her. Found out later that she liked to stay there because she didn't have to take a bath before she went to bed. We had no bathroom or shower...Janet was a very smart nice gal and loved by all...I know Joanne worried about her so much later in life... I'm so glad we got to spend so many years together.. Dear Paula, Randy & Steve,
We were sad to hear of Aunt Janet's passing. Aunt Janet always met us with a smile and was interested in what we were doing and how our life was going. She was a fine person. I am planning on going to Vinton to the buriel because I might be able to bring Mom just so she could see you. Mom is in a nursing home since two weeks ago. She may be able to ride in a car that far. I know she would like to see you and give you her condolences.
