Annette Ashley, 76, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Israel Family Hospice in Ames, Iowa. She was born April 8, 1935, in Battle Creek, Michigan, to Anthony and Jane (Yeager) Charameda.
Annette loved being in the kitchen, cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to visit her family, to make new memories, and to cheer on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren at soccer games, plays, dance recitals, gymnastic meets, or horseback riding lessons. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, endearing sister, and friend.
Annette is survived by her husband, Tom; her children, Victoria (Vince) McCabe, Allison (Tim) Jarrett, Amy (Fred) Panici, and Thomas (Kathy) Ashley; grandchildren, Noelle, Shawn, Megan, Patrick, Ashley, Emily, Alex, Anna, Anthony, Hunter, Sophi, Carolyn, Dallas, and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob, Abigail, Ellie and Brianna; as well as her siblings, Toni, Robert and Sue. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Friday, April 6, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Israel Family Hospice or the American Cancer Society, in loving memory of Marie Annette Ashley.

Dear Tom: Diane and I just want you to know we are thinking about you and your family today. Our prayers are with you. Although it has been years since we have seen the two of you, we fondly remember you and your beautiful, smiling and vivacious Annette. What a huge loss of us, Aunt Annette was "one of a kind". Full of life and energy, she was unstoppable. God will be lucky and honored to have such a servant.

My daughters, Vanita, Angela and I, wish to extend our condolences to you, Tom, and all your family! Annette was a lovely lady and we are sorry to hear of her demise. Please know that our hearts go out to you and yours and we wish you the very best!
You and Annette have always been such caring neighbors to this 94 year-old and I appreciate all your kindness. I especially remember shortly after I moved out here to Carmella Villa I needed the light bulb above my kitchen sink changed out. Annette climbed up on my counter top and put in a new bulb for me! What a lady! I know you will miss her terribly but what a blessing to have so many good memories of her!
