Service Details
Cecelia Shaw, 95, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at Prairie Hills Senior Living Center. She was born December 31, 1916, to Richard and Lessie (Cook) Evans in Des Moines.
Cecelia worked in the office at International Harvester for many years. She was a real people person with a very kind heart.
Cecelia is survived by her daughter, Judith Frauchiger of Monroe, WI; grandchildren, Michelle (Eric) Schmetter of Elkhorn, WI, Robert (Diane) Frauchiger of Oregon, WI, and Kimberly (Steve) Kemp of Elkhorn, WI; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, William, Joshua, Natalie and Samuel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; son, Billie Lee Shaw; and her brother, Richard Evans, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, April 9, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Monday, at the funeral home.

Our very deepest condolences in your loss. Cecelia was such a lovely lady and I know you all will miss her so very much. She had a long, and for the most part, healthy life and she loved all of you so much and was so proud of each and every one of you. I know you all worried about her, tho, being so far away and alone. We had no idea she was ill or had moved and I'm glad to hear that you were able to be with her the last couple of months, Judy. If there is anything we can do for any of you on this end, please let us know. You always were all here for my Mom and Dad and we want to do the same for you. My name is Julie Bird and My parents, Brigader General Edward W. Bird and Jane Bird, were best friends with Cecelia and Francis Shaw for many years. Your father, Francis, went to High School with my dad at East High School in Des Moines. They were on the hockey team or the swimming team and had a lot of fun together. I always picked up Cecelia and took her, and my mom and went to the high school class reunion at the buffet on Hickman Road every month. My dad passed away of Parkinson's Disease( which I have right now.)
I called Cecelia every week for a long time, even after my mom died. I miss hearing her nice voice. She was a bright spot in my life and I will always think of her. I am so sorry and wish to offer her family my sincerest condolences. She was a jewel amoung so many people and I am not ashamed that I feel so much for her.
