Richard Broich

Richard Broich, 65, passed away April 2, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, April 13, 2012, at the funeral home.

Richard was born February 7, 1947, in Carroll, IA, to Frank and Loretta Broich. He was a retired Des Moines police officer of 20 years and was a proud veteran of the Air Force.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Broich of Norwalk, Polly Mason of Des Moines; grandson, Jacob of Des Moines; five sisters, Bonnie Onken of Lidderdale, IA, Dorothy Hoffman of Lynchburg, VA, Rita (Marvin) Bruch of Manning, IA, Phyllis (George) Wessling of Garner, IA, Chris (Terry) Assman of Omaha, NE; one brother, Denny Broich of Manning, IA; brother-in-law, Paul Wessling of Anita, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loretta A. (Steffes) and Frank Broich of Arcadia, IA; sister, Jane Wessling of Anita, IA; brother-in-law, Vernal Onken of Lidderdale, IA; sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Loren Leiting of Arcadia, IA; brother-in-law, George J. Hoffman of Des Moines, and infant sister, Marian Broich.
