Marjorie Godfrey

Marjorie M. (Kail) Godfrey, 92, died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at Trinity Center at Luther Park. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 25, 2007 at Capitol Hill Lutheran Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St.
Marjorie was born May 11, 1915 to Leo and Juanita (Cook) Kail in Des Moines. She worked in the bindery department at Meredith Corporation until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of Capitol Hill Lutheran Church. Marjorie enjoyed walking and church activities she especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Kathleen (Arnold) Van Haaften; step-daughter, Dora John; step-son, Edward A. (Barbara) Godfrey; sister, Helen (Henry) Larson; grandson, Sean Van Haaften; numerous step-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Godfrey: brothers, Dick and Robert Kail; and her sister, Mary Lou (Kail) Flanders.
In lieu of flowers, it was Marjorie’s wishes that memorial contributions be made to Capitol Hill Lutheran Church.
Her sweet smile will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
