Roger "Bryce" Mills

Born April 10, 1946, Roger passed away at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa on March 27, 2012, from complications of pneumonia and cancer.

As a former Sergeant, Roger served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1973 and proudly fought in the Vietnam War where he received a Purple Heart. Roger enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who liked fishing, hunting, and watching wildlife. Roger loved the Old West and enjoyed riding his Harley through the hills of South Dakota. He spent many weekends at the dirt track watching his grandchildren race.

Roger was preceded in death by his father, Roy, and brother, Jim. He is survived by his mother, Darlene Mills (Webb, IA); sisters: Karen, Kathy, Luann, and Colleen; brother, Kevin; four children, Elena Dunblazier (Colfax, IA), Quentin and his wife, Sheryl Mills (Bondurant, IA), Ryan and Nicholas Mills (Altoona, IA); five grandchildren, Paige, Zach and Lane Dunblazier, Nathan and Alexis Mills; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 1, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday at Olivet Baptist Church, 2743 82nd Place in Urbandale, with burial to follow at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.

In loving memory of Roger, memorial contributions may be made to the Roger Mills Memorial Fund at Valley Bank, 210 NE Delaware Avenue, Ankeny, Iowa 50021.
