Kathryn (Kate) Sue Miller-McLaughlin, 59, passed away peacefully at Tuesday, March 20, 2012. She was born March 18, 1953, to Joseph and June Miller in Des Moines.
Kate is survived by her parents; son, Kevin (Cassandra VandenBerg) Miller; daughter, Hannah McLaughlin; son, Todd (Michele) Thomas; grandsons, Austin Miller, Aspen Miller, Tanner Thomas, Ethan Thomas, and Evan Thomas; brother, Daniel (Roxian) Miller; sisters, Rose Miller, Carol Miller, and Patsy Stanley; twelve nieces and nephews; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Loretta Miller.
Kate’s wish was to be cremated and buried with her sister, Loretta, at Glendale Cemetery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street, in Des Moines. Burial will occur at a later date.
Memorial contributions will be received by the family in loving memory of Kate.

Kate was a wonderful mother and who loved her children so much and always wanted the best for them. I remember her always willing to to talk to anyone and trying to make others happy. Your family will be in my thoughts.

I'm really at a loss for words- not finding out until after the service was over yesterday. I have so many wonderful memories of all the time Kate and I spent together through our younger years but I keep going to when Kevin was almost born in the backseat of my vw bug on the way to the hospital that day. I don't think i've driven that fast since then! I will miss her so much and feel truly blessed to have been a part of her life and know that she has been a part of my life and the family we built through the Wherehouse. Kathy touched my life in so many ways and I thank God for our paths crossing.

Kate had a lovely service today! She will be missed by all the people who were lucky enough to have had their life touched by Kate in some way! Kate was very caring and loving that no matter how little she was if you needed something she would find a way to make should you would get the help you needed! Family meant the world to her and if you were a friend you were family. A heart of gold stopped beating here on earth but now a wonderful angel watches over us all from heaven above!! Hannah and Kevin please know that we are here for you at anytime just a phone call away. The next few months are going to be the hardest but please remember how very much your mom loved you both, you were her everything, her world.
June I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a child and now you have had to endear the lose of two daughters! This shows the world what kind of mother and a strong wonderful woman you are!
We love you all and will always be in our prayers!
