Grant Donald Stokka

Grant Donald Stokka, 82, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Prime Tower Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Grant was born January 5, 1930, in Steele Co., North Dakota, to Martin and Marie Stokka. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Grant retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier. After retirement, he worked for Priority Express. Grant was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Ankeny, and Indianola Heights Evangelical Free Church.

Grant is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley; children, Jonathan (Deb) Stokka, Linda Harvey and Dean (Diane) Stokka; sister, Phyllis (Burt) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Eleanor and Merle Stokka; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Bruce and Morris Stokka

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
