Judith Mae Darling, 70, of Des Moines, IA, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012.
Judith Bergstrom was born on January 2, 1942, in Des Moines, IA, to Esther and the late Jack Bergstrom. She married Larry Russell Darling on May 9, 1959. She obtained her RN license in 1979, and worked for over 30 years on Younker 8 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, on January 12, 2007, and their son, James Dean Darling on December 19, 1967. Judy is survived by her sister Deborah, her husband Michael Webber, and their children Kyle and Kristen, and by her brother Jack Bergstrom, his wife Vilma, and their children Mary and Erika. Judith is also survived by her daughter Susan Darling of Des Moines, her husband Carlin Driver, and their children Justin, Cyle, and Brandon; her son Jeff Darling of Conway, AR, his wife Andrea, and his children Lindsay and Matt; her son Chris Darling of Des Moines and his children Andreas, Whitney, and Calvin; her son David Darling of Des Moines, his wife Amy, and their children David, Jr., and Nicole. Judith also has three great-grandchildren: Tristan and Gabriel of Justin and Tana Darling, and Violet of Cyle Williams.
A celebration of Judith’s life will take place Monday, March 25, 2012 at her home, beginning at 2 PM.

My Dad, Dan Papich bumped into your son at Casey's gas station on Army Post Rd. Your son advised you had passed away just two hours before.
My Dad wants to extend his sincere sympathy to all Judith's family and especially your son. God works through others to speak to each of us and your son's anguish moved my Dad that day.
God bless and keep all of you and may Judith rest in peace in the hopes of rising again.

I only met Judy a few times but she seemed like a fun, creative, and lively person. She will be missed by many. My condolances to all the families.

Judy has been a source of joy to me my whole life. I have terrific memories of all we shared. I'll never forget. She has always been the sister I never had and I thank God for her. She was one of his greatest gifts to me. I will miss her so much.

I also met Judy on Younker 8. She was a great nurse, mentor, preceptor and role model to me. I learned many things from working along side this funny gal. Her nursing intuition was always superb. Her style of patient care always infused the correct amount of humor into a stressful situation. I will always remember Judy for her extreme creative ablities. Her lovely gardens. The huge home improvement projects she would tackle. Her love of crafting beautiful things. We spent many, many hours discussing stained glass, basket weaving, sewing, painting and more. Judy hosted many great parties in her beautiful home. She was a beautiful person with a warm and caring heart. Judy you will be missed. We are fortunate to have had you in our lives!

Judy was a friend, mentor and co worker to me for 8 years on Younker 8. I was sad to learn of her passing and will miss her very much. My sympathy goes out to the entire family and my prayers are with you at this time.

I met Judy Mae years ago at Y-8 also! She was wonderful to work with she always Said we did it 'old school', caring, and loving our jobs. We all loved being around Judy Mae, because she was honest, and told it how it was. She gave me the will to quit smoking before my surgery over 2yrs. ago just because she cared. I don't have parents, so yep she was my surrogate mother also. She is a true Angle that has gone home no longer in pain. I will miss my dear friend truly I will. Love you Judy Mae. I have been very Blessed in knowing you, Thank you to your family for sharing such a great person with us all. You were very blessed in having her all your lives.!

The last time we saw each other was when your dad passed away. My own mom passed away shortly after that. I know how hard it is to lose a parent and my heart goes out to you and your brothers. I remember your mom fondly from all the times I spent at your home when we were kids.I'm sure she is at peace and in the arms of your dad and brother. I am always here if you need someone to talk to. I am sending many prayers and lots of love your way.

Judy was a dear friend, a surrogate mother and mentor to me. I loved working with her on the Y8 evening shift, and with her there the night was always interesting. She was a wonderful nurse and an even better friend to many. I learned a lot about life from Judy, the good, the bad and the ugly, and she never minced words, which I always appreciated.
I know she is in a better place now, but she will always be missed. I will miss hearing her plans for the newest line of beautiful doll clothes she was making, her beautiful garden, or the huge koi fish in her lily pond, to the latest episode of NCIS or why on Earth anyone buys Joan Rivers' Jewelery from TV. Most of all I will miss coming over to visit Judy after she became ill and talking for hours about nothing, yet everything all at once. I am grateful that I had a chance to have Judy be such a part of my life for the past 2 years and the advice she shared with me will always stick with me.
I will sure miss you Judy, I know you are happy up there and watching over and taking care of everyone, but most of all, you and Larry are together again, which I know makes you very happy.

I met Judy on younger 8 and what a funny wonderful person she was to work with. I learned so much from her. I remember taking care of her husband Larry years ago on younker 8,he was such a nice man. Judy you will be missed by many and forgotten by none! Rest in peace Judy! God bless.
