Dewitt Cunningham, Jr.

Dewitt Cunningham, 85, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, where he had lived the past 17 months and received excellent care.

Dewitt was born February 1, 1927, in Des Moines, to Dewitt and Marjorie Cunningham, Sr. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Dewitt worked as a tow truck driver for Owen Crist until his retirement 1992. Dewitt enjoyed fishing.

Dewitt is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Maria; children, Steve (Mik) Cunningham, Tim (Bea) Cunningham, Ruth (Don) Renier, Sue Marvin, Cordy (Bob) Coady, Robert Cunningham, Robin Nutting and Mary Taylor; sister, Ann Marie (Rev. Jack) Ostring; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
