Betty J. Banning

Betty Jean Banning, 84, died Friday, March 23, 2012, at Park Ridge Nursing Home. She was born October 7, 1927, to Vernie and Alpha Fraaken, in rural Polk County.

Betty was a member of Community Chapel Open Bible Church and retired from CDS after over 40 years of service. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a member of a flower club. She also loved big band music and dancing.

Betty is survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Beverly J. Sams - Banning; grandchildren, Josh and Jonie; great-grandson, Robbie; sister-in-law, Margaret Fraaken; nieces, Karen and Kay and nephew, Brian Fraaken.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Banning Jr.; son, Rusty Banning; and brother, William Fraaken.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
