Elaine Lawrence

Elaine Cook Lawrence, 89, was born July 8, 1922, in Fonda, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Olive Cook. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at her home.

Elaine is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Janet Lawrence (Robert), JoAnn (Don) Smith and Judy (Tom) Woods; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; other loving relatives; and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Bert Lawrence; grandson, Chad Woods; brother, Loren Cook; and her parents.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2012, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home prior to the service.

The family would like to thank all of mother’s caregivers, doctors, nurses and staff at Mercy Hospice for their love and comfort through this journey.
