Sharon K. Ruth

Sharon K. Ruth, 69, was born March 20, 1943, in Des Moines, and passed away March 20, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center of cancer.

Sharon worked as a bookkeeper for Hilltop Clinic for 10 years. She later worked as a food demonstrator for Sam’s Club, retiring in 2003. Sharon was a longtime member of Bloomfield United Methodist Church. She also enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved her many pets and at one time was the largest parakeet breeder in Iowa.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 32 years, Ron Ruth; children, Mary (Gary) Livingston, Loretta Cox and Don (Debbie) Cox; step-children, Chuck Ruth and Mary Ann (Kirk Jefferson) Ruth; grandchildren, Angel Clark, Chris Livingston, Jacob Ruth and Cecilia Jefferson; great-grandchildren, Ginger and Autumn Hyatt; sisters, Frances (Don) Skoog, Sandy (Joe) Medina, Lorraine (Jim) Myers, Carol Ruth and Sharol Griffon; and many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William LaFavor and Mary Borrell; brother, William LaFavor; and sisters, Berna Joens and Linda Sheffer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, at Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 5930 Indianola Avenue. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
