Harry passed away peacefully in his sleep March 16, 2012. He was 81.
Born in Des Moines to Helen and Emile Chopard, he was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. After graduation from East High, Harry served his country for four years in the U.S. Air Force, after which he returned to Des Moines.
Harry spent fifty years in service and sales in the automobile business with Gabus Ford and Dewey Ford, from which he retired.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Paul Chopard. Harry is survived by his sister, Irene Livingston; brother, Les Chopard; his children, Michelle Reed, Melinda LeFleur, Steven Chopard; and step-son, Mike Birchette; four grandchildren, Steve, Scot and Sam Chopard, and Kolt Wood; plus two great-grandchildren.

I worked with Harry years ago at Dewey Ford. I crossed paths again with him serveral years later while delivering his newspaper. I too would sit and have coffee with Harry and Joe. Those times will be cherished.We are so sorry and our thoughts and prayers are with his family

Harry was a dear friend, I am going to miss the morning coffee and waited for the paper to be delivered. We had many great conversations about live, family and friends.
We are currently in California and will not be back for the visitation but our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am a first cousin of Harry and doont know who to send my condolence. I live in Edgewood Iowa My father was a brother to Harrys mother. so sorry to hear of his passing. gerald
