Ethel Lillian Hines

Ethel Lillian Hines, 92, passed away on March 16, 2012, at Fountain West Health Center. Services will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at 2:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Ethel is survived by her nieces, Linda (Terry) Haus and Jana (Donald) Crawford; numerous other nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

The last surviving sibling of ten, Ethel was a caring and loving person. She was born in Bidwell, Iowa on January 22, 1920, to Lucy and Andrew Riggs. She graduated from North High School and then attended business college. On March 28, 1941, Ethel married William Hines and they spent many years together traveling, fishing, and mushroom hunting until his death in 1997. Ethel was an independent career woman as well, and worked as a Billing Manager in the Art Department at Meredith Corporation.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or Fountain West Health Center both in West Des Moines.
