Jerry Lee Pike, (Mr. Bass Man), 84, passed away at Mercy Hospital on March 11.

Jerry was born on January 1, 1928, to James and Ruth Pike. He graduated from East High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was a long standing member of the Barbershop Society (SPEBSQSA) in Des Moines, and Joplin, MO. Jerry sang in numerous quartets including the Hawkeye Four and the Jax of Harmony which won the 1972 Central States District Championship. He also directed the men's and women's chorus and was a vocal coach throughout the years. He was a long time member of the Za-Ga-Zig Noble Chords.

Over the years, Jerry worked in office management and retired after owning a flower shop in Joplin, MO.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Darlene; sons, Gary (Jane), Chris (Cheri); brother, James; and grandchildren, Matt (Darla), Nathan (Megan), Jacob and Renee; great-grandchildren include Addi, Mason, Peyton and Carson.

Jerry was preceded in death by his son, Craig; granddaughter, Stephanie, and sister, Patsy Mitchell.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on March 15 at 10 a.m.
