Hazel G. Burns

Hazel G. Burns, 96, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Bickford Cottage. She was born February 24, 1916, to Everett and Elva Jones, in Waterloo, Iowa.

Hazel owned and operated her own antique collecting shop called Hazel’s Fantasy for over 25 years. She was a member of Highland Park Christian Church and enjoyed nature, animals, and spending time with her family and friends.

Hazel is survived by her children, Albert (Marilyn) Burns and Beverly Ross; sister, Patricia Lowe; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a niece, a nephew, cousins, and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis A. Burns; daughter, Karma Dyke; parents, Everett and Elva Jones; and brother-in-law, Jerry Lowe.

Family will greet friends at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. A graveside service will occur at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Hazel.
