Charles Barnes, 48, passed away March 6, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was born October 19, 1963, in Des Moines, to John and Blanche Barnes.
Charles enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.
He is survived by his mother, Blanche Wright; son, Jeremy (Amy) Barnes and daughter, Christina (Mauricio) Alvarenga; special friend, Ronda Kingery; brother, Bernard (Pam) Barnes; half-brother, John and half-sister, Penny; step-grandfather, Tom Speakman; four grandchildren; niece, Chloe Barnes; as well as aunts and uncles. Charles was preceded in death by his father, John.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Elkhart. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 9, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family in loving memory of Charles.

I Just Found Out Tonight About Charles Barnes. I Had No Idea Of His Passing. I Am Broken Hearted And Crying Because Of The Lost Of A Great High School Friend Of Mine. Chuck was a very special person. I only knew him for a little over for years, but his every visit to the store was special. Sometimes he would just stop by to chat. He will be missed very much. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

Charlie you touched all of our lives. You made us smile and laugh! You will never be forgotten.You had such a sweet personality, full of hugs and caring about each of us. I will miss your frequent stops in the big yellow van and crazy dog. Swimming in the pool! And how you thought you was special, but it was Charlie the dog! We have so many memories with you. Your family has lost a friend, a caring, loving, sweet, sympathetic, concerned man. We love you Charlie.
