Lois E. Hughes

Lois Eileen Hughes passed away March 4, 2012. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1100 SE Sharon Drive in Ankeny, Iowa, with burial to follow at Ankeny Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.

Lois was born to Albert and Christena Kreft on September 27, 1929, in Sac County, Iowa. She graduated from Nemaha High School in Nemaha, Iowa in 1947, and then worked five years at an insurance agency in Storm Lake.

She married Harold R. Hughes on October 14, 1951, and they resided in Storm Lake with their two sons until November 1965, when they moved to Ankeny, IA. She worked 22 years at Des Moines Area Community College.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1988, and her son, Michael in 2003. She is survived by her son, Mark; grandson, Johnathan (Amy) Hughes, and Steven Culler.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in loving memory of Lois.
