Patricia Dunlap

Dunlap, 72, of Des Moines passed away at Taylor House Monday, February 27, 2012, surrounded by her family. Pat was born to Vern and Lois Carter on May 21, 1939. She was a lifelong homemaker and mother. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her kids and grandkids. She also enjoyed collecting many things, especially pigs.
Pat is survived by her eight children: daughters, Diane Vilks of Aurora, Iowa, Kathy and Sue Dunlap and Jenna McVey, all of Des Moines, and Tamie (Ed) Hilligas of Bauxite, Arkansas; sons, Jamey (Missy) Dunlap of Earlham, Harold and Steve Dunlap, both of Des Moines; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers. Pat was preceded in death by her son, Matthew; her parents; two brothers; granddaughter, Stephanie Dunlap; and great-grandson, Parker Hilligas.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1701 8th Street SW, Altoona. Memorial Contributions may be made to her family in loving memory of Pat.

where to start.... Pat was my mother in law for a little over 20 years, we spent alot of fun times together. I'm gonna miss you Granny Clampett! I know your in a better place, but it seems like a bad dream. To her kid's I am so so sorry, I dont have the right words that I can express to you to show you how I feel, just know if you need anything I am here for you, and to the grandkids, you know grandma is watching over us and will be with us always in our heart's I love you all and have you in my thoughts and prayers!! rest in peace granny!!!

I just want to say I am so sorry to hear about your mom, I got the pleasure of meeting herr because I used to take care of her dad Vern.She was such a nice person and I am sure will be missed many.

Pat (Mom) I know we havent spent much time together in the last couple of years, but that is a thing called life,we both chose to do differnt things, but always know no matter what, you were still very close in my heart and I will always love you. I have so many memories good and bad, but they are memories I will cherrish for the rest of my life. I am so happy that I was there with you and got to spend some quality time with you. Mom you will alway's be in my heart and those special times we have shared... I love you!!!

Momma, I love you. You were a good mom actually did the best job under the circumstances. I learned alot from you and I say thanks at this time, thanks for loving unconditionally, thanks for being there through all the good times and bad. I should have been a better daughter to you....I was selfish and thought of my own needs all these years. For that I am so sorry. Diane,Kathy,Sue,Harold,Stevie Jamie and Tamie. I want you to know how deeply sorry I am for your loss.Aunt Pattie was a very kind hearted person whom would do anything for anyone. She was a very special person. Loved by so many people. I know she fulfilled her life with love and left so many memories of a life time behind for each of you to cherish till you all can share them together one day.
