Dorr Beattie

Dorr Beattie, 85, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2005, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, from complication of surgery. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, with burial at Powers-Warren Cemetery.

Dorr was born September 19, 1919, to Fred “Tuck” and Arizona “Zona” Beattie in Adelphi. He was a member of Rising Sun Church of Christ, Faithful Lodge #448 Runnells, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 518 Runnells, Scottish Rite, and Za Ga Zig Shrine. Dorr was a former member and president of the school board for SE Polk Schools. He always enjoyed driving his cars and his Gator; and was a Cubs fan. He loved his family and friends very much and will be truly missed by them all.

Dorr is survived by his wife, Louise; daughter, Helen (Gary) Freeman of Pleasant Hill; son, Charlie (Cindee) Beattie of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Jennifer (Karl) Southcott of Littleton, CO, Pamela Freeman of Englewood, CO, Emily (Greg) Geitz of Des Moines, and Matthew Beattie of Pleasant Hill; great-grandson, Grayson Geitz; and a host of family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
