Jae Givens

Jae Robert Givens, 74, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012, at Taylor House.

Jae was born September 16, 1937, in Hampton, Iowa, to Morris and Luella (Lage) Givens. He served in the Iowa National Guard for over 20 years. Jae enjoyed league bowling and playing golf. He was an Eagle Scout and an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher for many years. Jae’s greatest love was spending time with his family and doing word search puzzles.

Jae is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Michael (Alesha) Givens and Melanie (Doug Ruby) Givens; grandchildren, Isaac and Kierra Matheny; a brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2600 Euclid Avenue, with burial to follow at 2 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
