Joy and I worked together for many years before we became neighbors.
Jim and Joy were wonderful neighbors and Jim worked very hard at keeping their place looking neat. No stray weeds were ever found around Jim's shrubs. I have been gone from the neighborhood for a few years but think of them both very often. My deepest sympathy to all the family. They were great people.

My sincerest sympathy to Jim's family. When hearing or reading of someones passing, like Jim's, it reminds us that we have but a short time here on this earth.
Memories of Jim and his family go back to our childhood days. The 4th of July family gatherings at the Hoft farm. (Where we now live.) Always such fun and many good memories.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our deepest sympathy to all of Jim's family. He was a good neighbor and especially enjoyed himself when we would have a garage sale in the neighborhood. He loved to keep his lawn nice and was always "trimming". He will be greatly missed but know he is in a far better place. Our prayers and concerns for Marla. Stop and see us. Lyle and Barb Pohlman

Renae, Marla and Jim's Family-
I first met your Dad 32 years ago yesterday when I became a systems analyst with the Iowa Dept. of Revenue and Jim became my co-worker. From the first moment I met Jim, I had strong affinity toward him and thoroughly enjoyed his pleasant, affable and helpful demeanor. I was not alone in this perception. Other members of our staff respected Jim for his work attitude, diligence, competence, caring attitude, friendliness and positive attitude towards all that he came in contact with. Jim was a delight and pleasure to be around, associate with and work with. Additionally, his love and devotion to you, Joy, and his family was readily and always apparent by the way he portrayed you to me and others.
Although I only worked with Jim for a brief period of time (1 1/2 years), I feel honored that I had the opportunity to such.
I was very much saddened by learning of his passing today and will always delight in his memory.
