Dora Hummel

Dora Hummel, 83, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012, at Bright Kavanagh House, surrounded by her loving family.
Dora was born April 19, 1928, to Red and Goldie Warren Peterson in Des Moines. Dora married Lawrence Eugene Hummel on December 11, 1945. She worked for 31 years as a supervisor for Artistic Manufacturing. She loved spending time with her family, and had an extensive angel collection.
Dora is survived by her children, Larry Eugene (Joyce) Hummel of Wisconsin, Leonard Raymond (Brenda) Hummel of Des Moines, and Judith Irene (Greg) Hummel-Lamberti of Des Moines; grandchildren, Julie (Earnie) Ruegsegger, Steve Hummel, Jeremey (Missy) Hummel, Chad (Jo) Hummel, Toni (Michael) Conner, Chrissy (Brent) Garrett, and Tim (Bailey) Lamberti; great-grandchildren, Ryan and David Ruegsegger, Alaya, Brock, and Jayden Hummel, Elijah and Jonah Hummel, Nicole and Austin Conner, Noah, Ian, and Keeley Garrett, and Mackenzie Rae Lamberti; and life-long best friend and “sister,” Marie Cleveland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Hummel; parents, Goldie and Red Peterson; sister, Lorraine Vauble; and brother, Raymond Petterson.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 27, 2012, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, followed by burial at Warren-Powers Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Judy and family... I was sorry to hear about the death of your mother. I know words don't always help at this time, My dad and son passed away this summer so i know this is a hard time for you and your family members. I am very sorry to see the loss of your mother. My thoughts are with the family. We sure had a lot of good times at the old Walnut Tavern.
