Fred Wylie

Fred R. Wylie, 74, died Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Mitchellville Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Fred was born September 30, 1932 to Harold and Lura Wylie in Grinnell, Iowa. He graduated from Newton High School on June 4, 1951. He attended Drake University and was one of their best football players. He also played basketball at Drake. Fred owned Fred’s Maid Rite in Altoona, sold real estate and worked construction. He married Donna Lou Trotter on April 20, 1957.
Fred is survived by his son, Chris (Brenda) Wylie of Des Moines; brother, Jerry Wylie of Newton and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna; two sisters and a brother.
