I had the pleasure of getting to know Thelma when she was staying at Parkridge Nursing and Rehab. Thelma was one of the sweetest souls I have ever met. Her positive attitude was always something I, and many others at the facility admired. When you talked with Thelma you left feeling better because of her positivity and ability to not focus on the negative. I never heard her use a cross word or make any complaints. I feel blessed to have been given the opportunity to meet this amazing woman. Even though she moved from the facility, she was still thought of often and spoken about with high regard. My condolences to the entire Hick family. May God continue to bless each of you.

I met Thelma through being her Home Health Aide back in 2003 and 2004 and we instantly bonded. Her and Albert were very gracious people, and would always tell me to "just relax honey" when I came to help her shower or clean up their house. They were very excited when I became pregnant, and Albert placed his bet that I would have a baby girl born on May 7th, 2004, which happened to be his birthday also. A few days before that day in May, I started having serious contractions at their house when I came to do some cleaning. They were nice enough to let me leave for the day, though I'm sure if I would have had my baby at their house, I would have been in good hands. Sure enough, on May 7th, 2004 I had a baby girl named Zoe Cheyenne. Her first birthday we celebrated with Albert, Thelma and 2 of their daughters at our house. They were such good friends to me and my family and we always had a good time when we would stop their on our walks around the neighborhood. Now I drive by their house to take my girls to school, and it just isn't the same with them not being in the neighborhood anymore. I will forever cherish their friendship, and the fact that they ALWAYS made me feel just like family. She is a true gem, and I am already missing her like crazy. Thelma you will be greatly missed. Say hello to Albert for me, as I'm sure he is glad to have you back. We all love you very much. Thank you for being such a good friend. RIP.
