Myrna Maxey

Myrna R. Maxey, 69, died Saturday, February 11, 2012, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born August 16, 1942, to Gilbert and Esther Palmer in Des Moines.

Myrna was a front desk clerk at the 14th Street Inn for many years. She enjoyed going to Prairie Meadows, playing bingo, and spending time with her family.

Myrna is survived by her sons, Bryan Maxey of Des Moines, Jim (Margie) Maxey of Chino, CA, Roger Maxey of Des Moines, and Billy Maxey of Des Moines; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Gil (Doris) Palmer of Norwalk, Carl (Debbie) Palmer of Des Moines, and Paul Palmer of Des Moines; sister, Ruthie (Gary McDowell) Palmer of Anita; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Maxey; brothers, Jimmy and Roger Palmer; and sister, Linda Palmer.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday February 15, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
