Reverend Ronnie-I am writing this 11 years after your passing. Still your ministry of the gospel and our Lord's unconditional love still rings in my heart today. You love was an incredible manifestation of God's love for all. Thank you for being my minister for only a short time but remaining a wonderful brother in Christ forever. I never got to tell you but one sermon reached deep inside me and I need to honor that story. You spoke of being a demonstrator against the horrible anti-homosexuality laws in Des Moines, Ia in the 1960s. You related how you risked arrest gathering together with others every Saturday, openly standing up for the rights of gay people. Many of the times you did this and were arrested. You are one of the few that helped turn the tide against home sexuality and prepared a pathway for my generation to continue fighting for our rights and the freedom to openly be who we are. Because of your and others pioneering braveness, I finally came out in 1997. The generation after me practically knows no hatred and inclusion in society is almost certain. You are my hero in both religious and personal beliefs and I say thank you and God bless you. When we meet again, I will thank you in person. Until then I will just keep keeping in...

My thoughts go out to Ms. Rook, as well as to Ronnie's friends. To Gladys Rook; my late grandmother - Mary Droessler - always spoke so fondly of you and Ronnie. It was so evident in her memories, as well as photographs, of the fun times that all of you always had when together. Also, my late aunt - Charlotte - always had fond memories as well, of the times you all had together many years ago. My aunt enjoyed her brief visits of several years ago, when she would see you and Ronnie at Old Country Buffet. Over the last year, and once or twice this year, I had the pleasure of seeing Ronnie at the Auction Outlet. After seeing him a few times there, I thought for sure he had looked so familiar. It was confirmed upon me introducing myself to him, and asking his name. It was always a pleasure seeing him on those few occasions. He always mentioned that he could've almost ended up being my uncle. I've always mentioned to my aunt - Marysue, as well as to my father - Robert (Bob), whenever I've seen Ronnie.

RONNIE, I COULD NEVER BEGIN TO GET ALL THE WORD HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU IN THE SPACE GIVEN. YOU BY FAR WAS SUCH A GIVING PERSON AND NEVER A TAKING PERSON. YOU WENT OVER AND ABOVE TO HELP PEOPLE IN NEED. IF PEOPLE TRIED TO TURN DOWN AN INVITE OUT TO DINNER YOU WOULD TAKE IT AS AN INSULT SO WE HAD NOT MUCH CHOICE OTHER THEN TO ACCEPT AND GO, LOL. I WILL MISS YOUR CONTAGIOUS SMILE AND JOKES AND YOUR LAUGH. I ALREADY MISS OUR MORNING CHATS ON THE PHONE AND READING THE DAILY BREAD TOGETHER SOMETIMES AND PRAYING TOGETHER. RONNIE YOU WERE A MENTOR TO ME AND TAUGHT ME SO MUCH ABOUT WALKING MY PATH WITH GOD. I PROMISE I WILL CARRY THAT WITH ME ALL OF MY LIFE LEFT HERE ON EARTH. MY FRIEND YOU ARE HOME IN YOUR MANSION NOW AND PLEASE ENJOY AND GET MY MANSION READY FOR ME WHEN I GET THERE.I WILL MISS YOU AND THINK OF YOU OFTEN. GOD BLESS UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. YOUR VERY DEAR FRIEND AND BROTHER IN CHRIST, DAN RICHARDSON.
