Robert "Bob" Krouse

Robert “Bob” Krouse, 95, passed away Friday, February 3, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Robert Arthur Krouse was born July 21, 1916 in Chicago, Illinois, to Abe and Rose (Kappler) Krouse.
Bob grew up in Des Moines and graduated from East High School. He attended UCLA as well as the University of Iowa. He married Eleanor Mongar on March 5, 1938. Bob operated a corner grocery store for many years and retired from the U.S. Postal Service Special Delivery. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.
Bob was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes, and was a member of the East Gate Masonic Lodge.
Robert is survived by his children, Karen (Tony-deceased) Lavia; Dennis (Darlene) Krouse, and Jeri (Ron) Mellgren; grandchildren, Michele DuBois, Bryan DuBois, Stephanie Krouse-Tosches, Michael Krouse, Lori Fleming, Eve Hultman, Reed Mellgren and Ross Mellgren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Eugene (Janet) Krouse; sister-in-law, Betty Krouse; nieces and nephews; a host of other extended family; and his special friend, Margaret Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor in 1986; his parents; brother, Howard, and son-in-law, Tony.
Private family services will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston in loving memory of Robert.

The Brothers of East Gate Lodge would like to give our Condolances to the family of Brother Bob Krouse. If there is anything we can do for you just let us know. Bob will be missed. We will keep a seat for him in the lodge room and drape the Bible for the next month in his memory on his journey to the Grand Architect of the Universe.

Krouse family, sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. I remember him fondly from his store. (I attended Wilson Jr High with Jeri all those years ago)
