Jan Klebs

Jan Klebs, 67, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Jan was born March 9, 1944, in Des Moines, to Ben and Bernice (Merryfield) Klebs. He retired from the Des Moines Art Center where he worked security for 21 years. Prior to that, he worked for Bookey Meat Packing Plant for 13 years and had been a truck driver for 10 years. Jan was a member of the Teamsters Union and GPAA, (Gold Prospector Assoc. of America). He enjoyed fishing, camping, and gardening. He truly loved his family and friends.
Jan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol Klebs; children, Troy Klebs and Tami Klebs-Grant; grandchildren, Katelund and Kyleigh Jeffrey; aunt, Ruth Dyer; and many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jack Klebs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial to follow at Berwick Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

So sorry for your loss. Jan and I worked together for many years and he helped me pick out my motorcycle and I will remember him especially in the spring when I am riding in the evening. He was a good friend and will be missed by many.
