Janet Lee Bailey “Golden Nuggets”, 75, died at her home Sunday, January 29, 2012. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Janet was born November 6, 1936 to Helen and James Brown. She retired in 2001 from ARAG Group where she worked as an office clerk. She loved playing BINGO, going to Meskwaki and Prairie Meadows Casinos, and listening to Elvis Presley. When her favorite Elvis song was on, everyone would have to stop and dance with her.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Francis. She is survived by her children: Steve (Betty) Bailey of Tucson, AZ, Sherry Baker (Craig Tideback) of Pleasant Hill, Mike Bailey of Des Moines, and Shelley (Tony) Backstrom of Des Moines; her brother, James (Sue) Brown; Her grandchildren: Tara (Kevin), Darcy (Jaime), Steven, Rachelle, Brandon, Katie (Mike), Brian, Megan, and Tanner; and her great-grandchildren: Nataleigh, Aden, Taylor, Kenzly, Gabrielle, K.J., Hailey, and Tyler.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Janet.
