January 28, 2012
Eleanor Funaro, 90, died peacefully Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
Eleanor was born April 14, 1921 to Mary and Otto Comito. She dedicated her life to her faith and was recently recognized as a “pillar” of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Eleanor had a love for cooking and will be remembered for her love knots and feeding anyone who came into her home. She always said “I am not rich with money, but I am rich with FAMILY”. We will always treasure our beautiful Mom and Grandma Ellie who taught us how to live and love. She was our angel on earth who is now our angel in heaven.
Eleanor is survived by her children: Frank (Linda), Greg (Sondra), Kevin (Gretchen), and Mary Jo (Harvey) Sergio; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; 6 siblings: Frances, Annie, Al, Joe, Sr. Frances and Anthony and her son Charles.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th in Des Moines, with a Rosary being said at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Bright Kavanagh House in loving memory of Eleanor.

May you all find comfort at this time. From all Jill has told me, heaven gained another angel with big, beautful wings.
